OREGON PARTNERSHIP MEMBER OF GOVERNOR'S METHAMPHETAMINE TASK FORCE ASKS
MT. HOOD COALITION AGAINST DRUG CRIME MEMBER TO SERVE ON
GOVERNOR'S METH TASK FORCE SUBCOMMITTEE

The Mt. Hood Coalition Against Drug Crime has been asked to serve on the Governor’s Methamphetamine Task Force sub committee, the purpose of which is to develop a set of actions to attack the production and use of methamphetamine in Oregon in relation to community prevention.

The Mt. Hood Coalition Against Drug Crime was chosen to serve on the Meth Task Force sub committee because they have been successful in developing community programs to rid their community of this dangerous illegal drug.

As a coalition located in a rural area the Mt. Hood Coalition Against Drug Crime notes that our communities have been hit hard by the destruction caused by illegal drugs. 70-80%% of all property crimes are drug related and methamphetamine is so addictive and destructive to not only those who get hooked but those most vulnerable, our youth and the environment, where they dump their left over chemicals.

The Mt. Hood Coalition Against Drug Crime successes have lead them to beginning 5 other coalitions in Clackamas and Polk County-Eagle Creek/Estacada Coalition Against Drug Crime, Molalla Coalition Against Drug Crime, Boring Coalition Against Drug Crime, Overland Park Coalition Against Drug Crime and Falls City Coalition Against Drug Crime. The coalition notes that they are receiving calls from all over the country from communities who are concerned about the dangers of Methamphetamine and they want to know ways to help them deal with it.

The Mt. Hood Coalition Against Drug Crime will challenge the task force to provide additional funding focused on meth, stiffer prosecution sentences, rural area treatment programs, awareness programs that help the average community understand the dangers, as well as programs that help educate those most vulnerable, our youth.
