Upon arrival and exiting his Clackamas County Patrol vehicle, Deputy Claggett could hear exceptionally loud music blaring from the residence about 150 feet away. As Deputy Claggett approached the residence with intentions of initiating contact with the occupants and address the loud music concerns -- he detected a strong odor of fresh, growing, marijuana emanating from the garage area of the home.

2004 NOTICE
-SEARCH WARRANT AND MARIJUANA GROW SEIZED-WELCHES-

On Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 5:45pm Deputy Claggett and Deputy Morris of Clackamas County Sheriff’s Officer were called to a suspected burglary in the Welches area.  On arrival at the property, there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from the broken window.  The property owner was not home and upon entering the home, they found over 300 marijuana plants of all sizes from 4 inches to 4 feet through out the home in every room.

  • Bedrooms, garage and other areas of the home were filled with a very sophisticated marijuana grow.  Very sophisticated!
  • Grow lights that were hung on a rotating wire system to move around the growing area, on a timer, venting systems, starter plants, and a number of other very sophisticated equipment.
  • Windows were boarded up, drapes were hung, black plastic in various areas to conceal the illegal grow.
  • There was no clothing or food in the house. It was obvious that the entire home was being used to grow illegal marijuana grow.  Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has not released details at this time because the investigation is still in process.

We were able to obtain some of the photo’s of this grow so that you can see just how important it is for us to be aware of illegal activity in our community.  The suspected street value of this grow was estimated to be over $700,000.   This was a high class experienced illegal grow obviously being used to make a LOT of money!

Hats off to Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office!  They worked into the wee hours of the morning seizing the entire illegal marijuana grow and all the equipment as evidence.   This was a nice Christmas Gift to rid this illegal marijuana grow from our community.
